Flanged housing units for large electric motors

FAG manufactures complete flanged housing units FERS, FERB, FKC and FKB for the rotor bearing support of large electric machines with end shields.

Flanged housing units are compact arrangements consisting of one or two bearings, seals and a housing made of spheroidal graphite cast iron (GGG-50), cast iron or cast steel (see fig.). The complete unit is screw mounted axially to the machine housing.

FAG flanged housing units offer a multitude of advantages for the design, manufacture, mounting and maintenance of large electric machines. They simplify the design of end shields significantly, which noticeably reduces the outlay required for developing large motor housings. With their sophisticated design, these bearing solutions are extremely easy to maintain.

FERS and FERB design

  • FERS: Narrow flanged housing unit with integral cylindrical roller bearing as non-locating bearing support
  • FERB: Wide flanged housing unit with a combination of cylindrical roller bearing and deep groove ball bearing as locating bearing support

Flanged housing units with integral angular contact ball bearings and deep groove ball bearings are special designs.

Flanged housing units FERS and FERB are designed for shaft diameters from 100 mm to 400 mm and can be used on machines with horizontal and vertical shafts. FERS and FERB come with grease valve, spacer ring and covers as standard, which makes them the ideal complete solution that ensures high functional performance and at the same time low costs and outlay for the customer.

FKC and FKB special designs for oil lubrication

These housings are normally used for radial spherical roller bearings or axial spherical roller bearings. FKB housing units are predominantly designed for the use in vertical motors and for supporting very high axial forces.
